If not Mayweather who should Pacquiao fight?

By Kenny Perrault

Depending on who you ask, the Pacquiao - Mayweather fight is either a done deal or not even close to being official. And in the sport of boxing no fight is guaranteed until fight night. So I began thinking if the fight with Mayweather doesn't’ get the green light, who should Manny Pacquiao fight next?

Zab Judah: A fight with Judah isn't exactly Fight of the Century material but it's not a bad one for either fighter. Champions are entitled to a break once in a while. Where does it say that every fight has to be tougher than the last? A fight against Judah would be a nice break for Pacquiao but at the same time would help him keep his skills sharp. Zab Judah is no tomato can and would come into this fight with something to prove.

Prediction: It would be interesting to see how Pacquiao handles the speed of Judah but this fight would not last more then three rounds. If Kostya Tszyu was able to catch Judah coming in and knock him down three times from one punch, I can only imagine what a flush shot from Pacman would do.

Shane Mosley: I doubt this fight will happen anytime soon. Mosley is penned in to face Andre Berto at the end of January. I will go on record and say Mosley deserves a shot at either Pacquiao or Mayweather. And if he beats Berto, and I believe he will, he should be first in line to face the winner of Pacquiao - Mayweather if it happens.

Prediction: Outside of Mayweather, Mosley poses the biggest threat to Pacquiao in the ring. He brings both speed and power but he'll do something Mayweather won't; he'll stand in front of Pacquiao and try to trade shots now and then and that will be his downfall. He may be able to get away with it once or twice but sooner or later Manny will catch him.

Paul Williams: The lanky southpaw who says he can fight anywhere from 147-160 lbs. has been looked at as one of the most avoided fighters for some time but I think that may have stopped being the case after last weekend's fight against Sergio Martinez. A Williams - Martinez rematch looks like it's in the cards but if not, how about a fight with Pacquiao?

Prediction: Up until the fight with Martinez I think many would have given Paul a fair chance at being able to upset Manny but I think things may have changed. Sergio Martinez beat on Williams' head like a drum for the majority of 12 rounds, showing the world Paul Williams has little to no defense. If Manny Pacquiao can get to Paul Williams in the same fashion the fight doesn't see round 7.

Yuri Foreman: The newly crowned WBA Super Welterweight champion has shown interest in fighting Manny Pacquiao and for good reason. He knows he'll make the biggest payday of his career. The fight would also give Manny Pacquiao the chance to become a champion in eight different weight classes.

Prediction: Both Manny Pacquiao and Freddie Roach have stated that Pacquiao will not fight higher than 147 pounds. However, if there was a fighter at 154 lbs. that would be perfect for Manny it's Yuri Foreman, who has very little power, and that means Pacquiao would run through him like a buzz saw. I believe if Foreman is able to keep his title, a fight with Pacquiao could be a done deal by the end of 2010, making Manny Pacquiao an unheard of eight division champion.

We would love to hear your ideas on who you would like to see Manny Pacquiao fight if the fight with Mayweather doesn't happen.
